Montañita, Ecuador

I arrived in Montañita at 10:00 on a Monday in the low season, so needless to say, this usually lively beach town was less than exciting.  From previous experience, I had it in my mind that all tropical beach towns regardless of the time of year should have endless rows of bars serving drinks at all hours and playing reggaeton.  This was not the case in Montañita, but at least the “spa-type” places were open, and so I dove straight into my first massage of the trip.  In and of itself, the massage experience was uneventful.  I’m actually fluent enough in Spanish now to not risk any weird “lost in translation” gaffes.
